A New Final Fantasy VII?

They want to make it, they really do, but the big holdup is the sheer manpower that it would require to make such a huge game. Think back to the quality of the original, it took a huge team of people and over three years to actually complete the game. Hell, it's still not completely finished, and you can see that the team was debugging right up until it was put into production (They never even remove the DB room).
Anyway, now, look at games today, see how they look? Life like, right? Now, look at VII, notice the (at the time) cutting edge summon cutscenes, the CGI game cutscenes, the enviroments, and the character models used. Now, just gloss over all that, and try to mentally come up with what it would translate to on the PS3.
Wow, right? It's been estimated that it would take a team of well over 300 people and five (+) years to create this game. Keep in mind that, at today's rate of technological upgrades, the VII(2) cutscenes will look old by the time it comes out! I hope that made sense.
Anyway, then there's the task of paying all the programmers, artists, designers, etc, and then the hefty fee of the executive designers. Holy damn. That's a LOT of money. SO much, in fact, that some people think that it's possible that after all the costs of the game, it might not even net that huge of a yield for Square.
Now, who's going to take that multi million dollar chance?
